StaffCaroline Nuzzi, Practice Administrator Carolina joined WLSC in 10/08 after relocating from NY. For the past 25 years, Caroline has worked in a variety of Administrative positions within the medical community, including Practice Administrator of a group of Orthopedic Surgeons in New York City, a Biliary Surgeon in New York City, an independent consultant for multiple practices and owner of a medical billing service for over fourteen years. Most recently she was a Realtor in Williamsburg, Virginia for five years. With such a diverse background with the medical community as well as sales, Caroline offers a strong understanding of business. She posses the ability to communicate with, listen to and understand people’s needs, making her a welcomed addition to Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads. Shawn Joyner, Office Manager

As the Office Manager, Shawn oversees daily operations at The Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads, P.C. Shawn has extensive experience (18+ years in various medical offices) working with many insurance companies and is a true patient advocate.
Cassie is a wealth of knowledge related to all aspects of dietetics. She enjoys working with weight loss surgery patients and helps with all of the diet, vitamin and protein needs. She also creates our monthly newsletter as well as helps with our monthly support groups. Cassie is a registered dietician who obtained her Bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island. She completed her dietetic internship at VCU Health System/Medical College of Virginia. Before she came to WLSC she was an inpatient dietitian at Sentara Careplex Hospital. 
Susie earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Thomas Nelson Community College. Having had a gastric bypass in 2003, she is a great patient advocate and educator. Susie coordinates and teaches part of a required 3 hour course in the office for patients/families prior to surgery. Her official title is Bariatric Program Coordinator as an employee of Sentara CarePlex Hospital. She bridges the link between Weight Loss Surgery Center of Hampton Roads, P.C. and the Sentara CarePlex Hospital. Her firsthand knowledge and clinical/managerial background makes her ideal for this role. 
Dr. Reese earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University. She completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and her Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at The University of Mississippi. Dr. Reese works closely with our patients as they prepare for and recover from weight loss surgery. Dr. Reese counsels patients individually and also teaches part of a required 3 hour course in the office for patients/families prior to surgery. She is well received by our patients as she assists them in coping with this life changing event in a positive way.
Dewey earned his Bachelor of Science degree in medical science/physician assistant from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating in 2002, he worked as a Certified Physician Assistant for a group of 8 surgeons in Panama City, Florida. Prior to that time he was a Surgical Technologist in the Navy. Dewey assists Drs. Clark and Terracina in the operating room as their First Assistant. Thus, although you might not get to spend much time getting to know him like many of our other staff, his expertise during surgery is appreciated and valuable.
Dani has an Associate Degree in Applied Science and more than 20 years experience within the medical office setting (Surgery, Family Practice and Chronic Pain Management). She assists Dr. Clark in the office with patient care and is the primary liaison between Dr. Clark and patients when he is in surgery. Dani is very caring and keeps the clinical side of the office running smoothly. She is also available to help in any way she can from a patients first phone call through the post-operative period and beyond. 
Cat specializes in meeting/exceeding patient needs related to scheduling surgery and any necessary appointments. She has over 20 years of experience in both hospital and physician office settings. She manages incoming referrals/e-mails from patients considering weight loss surgery and is our primary liaison with other physician offices. Jennifer is the person you will be speaking to during the process of obtaining all the information needed to get preauthorization from your insurance company. She assists with any incoming calls and scheduling. 
When you call or visit the office, you will likely speak with Kristi. She is one of our primary receptionists who is willing to help in any way possible. She has many years of experience in various roles within the physician office setting. She verifies and schedules office appointments, keeps the charts in order and helps to keep the front desk running smoothly and effectively. 
If you have any billing questions or problems, Candace will be one of the voices to try to assist you in figuring out your bill. She joined our team in 2006 and has been a great asset. Candace joined us after she moved to the area from South Carolina where she also worked for a bariatric surgeon.She is here to assist with any billing questions and working insurance claims and denials. 
Leslie is our other primary receptionist and is usually the first person you will see when you walk into our office. She recently joined us in 2009. She schedules and confirms office appointments, keeps the charts in order and helps to keep the front desk running smoothly and effectively. She is also here to help guide you throughout your weight loss process.
